It might be a surprise, but the majority of the Romanians found out about the existence of the Dracula myth only after the end of the communist era, often from foreign tourists. Today this myth is imported “back” to Transylvania, to Romania, a post communist country which is trying to adapt to the capitalist economy in which the Dracula brand means a lot of money. But in exchange of the possibility of exploring this myth Romanians may be bartering away their history.
